What is GiveLab?

GiveLab is an online tool that allows you to easily create and run giveaways and competitions that grow your social presence, build email lists. and grow your audience. Whether you are a business, a YouTuber/Streamer or run an online store, running a giveaway or competition is an excellent way to promote your brand.

What entry methods do you support?

We support an ever growing list of entry methods and integrations, with more to be added. You can see an overview of which entry methods and actions are available on each of our plans here.

How does the Duplicate Step Limit work?

As detailed on our Pricing page, we implement a Duplicate Step Limit on our Free and Premium plans.

The Duplicate Step Limit is a restriction on how many of the same entry steps you can have in 1 giveaway. For example, if you wanted your giveaway to include 2 “Follow on Twitter” steps for 2 different Twitter profiles, you would need to upgrade to GiveLab Premium or above.

The Duplicate Step Limit applies to each plan as follows:

Free: Up to 1 duplicate step
Premium: Up to 3 duplicate steps
Business: No restriction

Does GiveLab verify entries?

GiveLab validates entries on a number of platforms using the API endpoints available. This helps ensure steps have been completed legitimately, and increases engagement from entrants to the social profiles.

Entry Methods that currently include full validation:

  • Twitter
  • Twitch
  • Tumblr
  • Mixer
  • Discord

Due to API limitations, we are unable to validate entries across all platforms, though we are continuously working to add validation to platforms that provide support. For example, Instagram does not support validation through their API, and is against their ToS. For steps we cannot validate through an API, we instead use other techniques to detect valid and invalid entries to the best of our ability.

Subscriptions & Billing

Can I upgrade/downgrade my subscription plan?

You can change your plan at anytime, and upgrades/downgrades are effective immediately. You will be charged/credited a pro-rota amount at the time of payment. Simply head to our Pricing page and select the plan you wish to have instead.

Do you offer a free trial?

We do not offer a free trial for any of our plans, however you can get a good overview of how our service functions using the Free plan.

If you have any specific requirements and would like to preview them, please reach out to us and we can put together a test campaign.

Is the Free plan really free?

Yes, it’s totally free based on the limits provided on our Pricing page.

We do limit access to some features – for example, we only show 5 of your most recent Users and Entries that have engaged in one of your giveaways. We also show GiveLab branding in the form of a menu and footer on the giveaway itself. You can instantly remove this by upgrading to GiveLab Premium or Business.

What currency do you charge payments in?

We charge all customers in USD regardless of your location. Your payment method will be billed in USD on a monthly basis.

What happens when I cancel my subscription?

If you do still wish to cancel, there’s just a few things to note. Once your subscription has expired, the following changes will apply:

  • If you have any active giveaways, they will be set to end at the end of your billing cycle (this cannot be adjusted unless you re-subscribe). If you wish to extend the date or make edits, you should first remove any subscription specific features before this date. (This also applies to any new giveaways created between now and the end of your billing cycle.)
  • You will lose access to any subscription specific features and data. This includes: Giveaway Analytics, User & Entries lists and more.
  • Your account will return to GiveLab Free, so if you plan on creating any further giveaways, you’ll have more restrictions.
  • Any integrations in which we are sending data (Example: MailChimp) will stop functioning at the end of your billing cycle.

Giveaway Questions

Frequent questions about paid subscriptions and billing

How can I preview my giveaway?

If you’re in the process of creating a giveaway and want to see a preview, although we don’t have a “preview” mode specifically, you can simply publish your giveaway when ready.

Once the giveaway is published, you’ll be able to view your giveaway as it will appear to your entrants. Alongside this, you will still be able to make any edits you’d like to your giveaway, including; adding/changing/removing steps, updating your giveaway image, making changes to the title/description/rules and anything else you would have done during the create process of your giveaway.

How do I embed a giveaway on my website?

You can embed a GiveLab giveaway almost anywhere, including WordPress blogs, personal websites and more. Read our Giveaway Installation documentation.

Can I restrict entries to specific locations/countries?

Yes, with GiveLab Business, you’ll have the option to choose which countries you want to make eligible for your giveaway. Anyone not included in the list of countries you define will be unable to enter the giveaway.

How do I upload a background image to my giveaway?

You can upload a custom background image to your giveaway to replace the default gradient background we add to your giveaway. This is ideal if you want to showcase your own branding, style your giveaway or perhaps even show extra information about the prizes to be won.

How do I show a YouTube video on my giveaway?

Alongside showing a Giveaway Image (the promotional image at the top of your giveaway), you can also show a YouTube video. This is great if you have a YouTube video showcasing the potential prizes available, or just want contestants to watch a video of your choosing.

Does GiveLab run the giveaways?

GiveLab provides the platform for giveaways to be run and hosted, however we (GiveLab) do not host the giveaways ourselves or manage the prizes, or prize delivery process (unless clearly stated on the giveaway).

Giveaways are typically hosted by brands, business and influencers/personalities – check the description of the giveaway for more details.

I get the message "This account can't be authenticated because it is associated with another account"

You may receive the message “This account can’t be authenticated because it is associated with another account” when trying to link one of the following social media accounts whilst entering a giveaway:

YouTube
Twitter
Facebook
Twitch
Steam
Reddit
Discord

You have likely received this message because you have a duplicate profile on GiveLab with the social media account connected. It’s possible you may have created the account in the past when entering another giveaway, and then forgot about it.

To fix the issue, you first need to find and unlink the social media profile from the duplicate account. To do this, follow the steps below:

  1. Open a Incognito/Private browser window and go to https://givelab.com/login
  2. Login with the social media profile that you are receiving the error message with. For example, if you cannot link a Twitch account, login with the Twitch account
  3. Once logged in, head to https://givelab.com/account/settings and click “Unlink” next to the social media account
  4. You can now close the Incognito/Private browser window and return to the giveaway and link the account to complete the entry step
