With our Twitter integration, you can award entries to users who complete the available actions we support.
We verify the steps have been completed by contacting the Twitter API. In order for a user to complete any Twitter steps, they must first link their Twitter account to GiveLab.
When adding Twitter as an entry step to your giveaway, you’ll see the following options:
Available Actions
Follow on Twitter
Award entries to users who follow a user on Twitter.
Configuration Options:
Step Title: This is where you enter the text that will be displayed for this particular step in your giveaway
Worth # Entries: How many entries will be awarded to the user by completing this step. (Example: If you want an entrant to receive 5 entries in the entry pool for completing this step, you would enter 5.)
@: The username of the Twitter profile to be followed
Things to note:
- The Twitter profile to be followed must be a public profile, not private. If the profile is private, the user will be unable to verify their entry until you have first accepted their request to follow the profile.
- If you change your Twitter username during the giveaway, you will need to update the username field in the configuration options as soon as possible. Users will be unable to verify their entires until the username is updated.
Award entries to users who post a tweet you define on Twitter.
Tweet: The contents of the tweet you want the user to tweet on their profile. If the tweet you provide does not include any URL’s, we will automatically include a link to your giveaway at the end of the tweet
Things to note:
- You are restricted to the same character limit as on Twitter itself (280 characters).
- As a general rule, we’d suggest ensuring your tweet isn’t spammy/over-filled with emoji’s, as users might be less likely to tweet.
Retweet Tweet
Award entries to users who retweet a tweet on Twitter.
URL: The URL to the tweet to be retweeted on Twitter
Things to note:
- The tweet must first be tweeted on Twitter in order to get the tweet URL. If you’re looking to include your giveaway URL in the tweet you plan on users retweeting, you’ll want to first publish the giveaway > post the tweet on Twitter with the giveaway URL > Edit the giveaway and add the Retweet Tweet step and include the tweet URL.
- If you delete the tweet for any reason, this step will no longer function and users will not be able to receive entries.
